This picturesque french landscape was animated only for one reason: to serve as a site for the everyday digital bloodshed within the shooter game “Battlefield 1”. In this panorama, however, the scenario’s raison d’être is absent: the battle. The 64 hidden soldiers use the landscape in order to become invisible for the viewer’s eye. In doing so, they seem to hide mainly from the player, whose presence is – in most games – the precondition for violence. In this vision, the battlefield remains unblemished and becomes the venue for a peaceful game of hide-and-seek.

Die pittoreske französische Landschaft ist Kulisse für das blutige Gemetzel für den Online Shooter
“Battelfield 1”. In Landscape for a Battle Panorama wir dem Panarama jedoch seine raison d’être entzogen: der Krieg verschwindet aus dem Schlachtfeld und es bleibt ruhig. 64 versteckte Soldaten nutzen die Landschaft um vor den Augen des/der Betrachterin zu verschwinden. Sie scheinen sich dabei vor allem vor dem Spieler zu verstecken, dessen Präsenz in den meisten Spielen die Voraussetzung für die Gewalt am Spielfeld ist. In dieser Version bleibt das Schlachtfeld makellos und wird zum Schauplatz eines friedlichen Versteckspiels.
